Serbia 5 dinara 2013 & 2014 - Different composition and weight

New circulating type:

Instead of CuNiZn like previous years (KM#56 and KM#40) these new types' composition is Multilayer material: low carbon steel core electrochemically coated with a layer of copper on both sides, electroplated with a layer of copper and finally with a layer of brass.

Weight is now 5.78 grams instead of previous 6.13 grams.

Serbia 20 dinara 2012 - Mihajlo Pupin

New circulating type:

Mihajlo Idvorski Pupin, (9 October 1858 - 12 March 1935), also known as Michael I. Pupin, was a Serbian-American physicist and physical chemist. Pupin is best known for his numerous patents, including a means of greatly extending the range of long-distance telephone communication by placing loading coils (of wire) at predetermined intervals along the transmitting wire (known as "pupinization"). Pupin was a one founding member of National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) on March 3 1915, which later became NASA.

Serbia 2011 - Redesigned coat of arms

My friend Ranko, from www.singidunum-online.com, just informed that finally we'll see different 2011 circulation types in Serbia, as the redesigned coat of arms has been approved. The striking of the new coins has already started. First one will be the 5 dinara, soon available in rolls.

Serbia 20 dinara 2011 - Ivo Andric

New circulating type:

"20 dinara: 50th Ann. of Ivo Andric's Nobel Prize"

Ivan "Ivo" Andric was a Yugoslav novelist, short story writer, and the 1961 winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. His writings dealt mainly with life in his native Bosnia under the Ottoman Empire. His native house in Travnik has been transformed into a Museum, and his Belgrade flat on Andricev Venac host the Museum of Ivo Andric and Ivo Andric Foundation.

Serbia 10 & 20 dinara 2009

New circulating commemoratives:

"10 dinara: Universiade"
"20 dinara: Milutin Milankovic"

Only 500,000 coins of both denominations have been minted.
The 10 dinar coin features the motifs of the 25th summer Universiade to be held in July 2009 in Belgrade, while the 20 dinar coin features the portrait of Milutin Milankovic, the renowned world geophysicist, engineer, climatologist and astronomer, and was minted to honour the 130th anniversary of his birth.

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was a Serbian inventor, physicist, mechanical engineer and electrical engineer, regarded as one of the most important inventors in history. He is also well known for his contributions to the discipline of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th century. His patents and theoretical work form the basis of modern AC electric power systems, including the polyphase power distribution systems and the AC motor, with which he helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution.
