Albania 1 lek 2013 - New type

New circulating type:

This 2013 new item is magnetic like 2008, same weight and same size. But it has a wider round border, quite different typography and flowers and number "1" are much closer to the edge.

I guess these are enough design changes for considering it a fully new type.

Serbia 5 dinara 2013 & 2014 - Different composition and weight

New circulating type:

Instead of CuNiZn like previous years (KM#56 and KM#40) these new types' composition is Multilayer material: low carbon steel core electrochemically coated with a layer of copper on both sides, electroplated with a layer of copper and finally with a layer of brass.

Weight is now 5.78 grams instead of previous 6.13 grams.

Saudi Arabia 50 halala KM68 - Three subtypes

This last post tries to glue together previous ones, for a better understanding (thank you, Wolfgang!).

The 50 halala KM#68 (Schön#53) has 3 different types, as reported by Wolfgang Schuster.

Here you can see how year AH1431(2010) has a different calligraphy for 'khamsun halala’ (fifty halala) than year AH1428(2007):



The Arabic inscription 'khamsun halala’ (fifty halala) comes in 2 different forms regarding its calligraphy:

a) 1428H: the 'n' in khamsun is positioned above the u, and there are no diacritical marks below 'halala'

b) 1431H (and also 1434H & 1436H): the 'n' in khamsun is positioned left of the u, and diacritical marks are added below 'halala'

And in this second picture you can see that year AH1434(2013), and also AH1436(2015), has a straight position for year numerals, not like previous issues, that had a curved one:



So, finally, putting it all together, the 50 halala KM#68 exists in 3 distinct subtypes:

a) 1428H(2007): curved year, calligraphy type A for 'khamsun halala' without diacritical marks

b) 1431H(2010): curved year, calligraphy type B for 'khamsun halala' with diacritical marks

c) 1434H(2013) and 1436H (2015): straight year, calligraphy type B for 'khamsun halala' with diacritical marks

Saudi Arabia 50 halala 2013 & 2015 - Straight year

The 50 halala from years AH1434(2013) and AH1436(2015) have a straight year, not like previous years that had a curved one. They should all be cataloged as a different types.

In fact, as Wolfgang Schuster reports, the 50 Halala KM#68 exists in 3 distinct subtypes:

a. 1428H(2007): with curved year and calligraphy type A for 'khamsun halala' without diacritical marks

b. 1431H(2010): with curved year and calligraphy type B for 'khamsun halala' with diacritical marks

c. 1434H(2013) and 1436H (2015): with straight year and calligraphy type B for 'khamsun halala' with diacritical marks

East Timor 2011 & 2013 - New subtypes

New East Timor subtypes of 5, 10, 25 and 50 centavos exist with different mint mark, and also with considerable different denomination numerals: the new series shows thick and bold figures, while the previous ones showed thinner numerals.

The 5 and 10 centavos from 2011 exist in both varieties, the new thicker 25 and 50 centavos only exist for year 2013.

Old issues bear a small letter C at left of the date. New issues bear a small BCTL at left of date (for Cental Bank of Timor Leste).

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has issued a series of 25 coins of 10 ruppees celebrating each of the 25 districts of Sri Lanka in the 9 provinces. The coins have been minted by the Slovak Kremnica Mint.

West African States 50 & 100 francs 2012 & 2013 - New material

Previous years for the 50 francs were made of CuNi (KM#6), and 100 francs was made of Nickel (KM#4).

The 2012 & 2013 items are reported to be new material, iron with galvanized nickel, so they are new types.

For the new 50 francs, it's weight is 4.82 grams instead of the previous 5.00. Besides, the 100 francs weights 6.70 grams, while the nickel type was 7.00. The other small golden denominations haven't changed.

The main difference between 2 Taka KM31 2010 and 2 Taka 2013 is that in 2010, the portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a bit flatter and looks like artistic art. In 2013, it is higher and similar design as in 1 Taka km32 2010 and 2014 issues.
