New circulating commemorative announced for 2018:
"150th anniversary of the Norwegian Trekking Association"
In 2018, Norges Bank will issue a special edition 20-krone circulation coin to mark the 150th anniversary of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT). Norges Bank invited five artists to participate in a competition to design the anniversary motif on the reverse of the coin. The artist Martine Linge won the competition with the motif "Map and Compass". The motif may be slightly altered before coin production begins. The obverse will bear a portrait of the King in line with earlier issues.

Norway 10 krone 2013 - Women's Suffrage Jubilee

"Women's Suffrage Jubilee"
Norges Bank invited seven candidates to compete for the design of the coin's reverse. The winning design with the motto "Joining forces" is by illustrator and graphic designer Siri Dokken. The left side of the coin features four female figures with their arms outstretched as its central motif. Commenting on her motif, Dokken says that democracy is a bottom-up movement and that to vote is to join forces to move something together, to create change, move axes and centres of gravity. Minor adjustments may be made to the motif before the coin is put into production.

Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja both celebrate their 75th birthdays in 2012. To mark the occasion, Norges Bank will issue a commemorative silver coin.
King Harald celebrates his 75th birthday on 21st February, and Queen Sonja celebrates her 75th birthday on 4th July. King Harald succeeded his father, King Olav V, to the throne on 17 January 1991. The King and Queen were consecrated in Nidaros Cathedral on 23 June 1991. The King and Queen were married on 29 August 1968 in Oslo Cathedral and have two children, Princess Märtha Louise and Crown Prince Haakon.

Norway 50 ore 2011 - Error coin
In the date featured on the coin's reverse, the last two digits in the year (11) have been reversed. More than 8 million coins had been struck by Mint of Norway before the error was discovered and corrected.
As discarding the coins and producing new ones would involve considerable cost, Norges Bank decided to put them into circulation.

Norway 10 krone 2011 - University bicentenary

To mark the bicentenary of the founding of Norway's first university, Norges Bank is issuing a special edition 10 krone circulation coin on Tuesday, 3 May. The coin is legal tender and will be issued at nominal value. 10 krone coins in the standard design will not be issued in 2011.
2 September 2011 will be the 200th anniversary of King Frederick VI's assent to the founding of a university in Norway. Over a century and a half, Norwegians fought to have their own university, first in 1661, later in the 1760s and 1770s and with particular intensity in 1793-95, but each time their demands were rejected by the King in Copenhagen. When King Frederick VI gave his assent in September 1811, the exact location of the university was yet to be determined. Kongsberg was considered, but in spring 1812, Christiania (now Oslo) was finally chosen.
In issuing the coin, Norges Bank has emphasised that the occasion is not geographically limited to Oslo but commemorates the beginnings of higher education and science and scholarship in a broad sense. In 2011 Norway has eight universities, with university-level education offered in all parts of the country.
