Saudi Arabia 50 halala KM68 - Three subtypes

This last post tries to glue together previous ones, for a better understanding (thank you, Wolfgang!).

The 50 halala KM#68 (Schön#53) has 3 different types, as reported by Wolfgang Schuster.

Here you can see how year AH1431(2010) has a different calligraphy for 'khamsun halala’ (fifty halala) than year AH1428(2007):



The Arabic inscription 'khamsun halala’ (fifty halala) comes in 2 different forms regarding its calligraphy:

a) 1428H: the 'n' in khamsun is positioned above the u, and there are no diacritical marks below 'halala'

b) 1431H (and also 1434H & 1436H): the 'n' in khamsun is positioned left of the u, and diacritical marks are added below 'halala'

And in this second picture you can see that year AH1434(2013), and also AH1436(2015), has a straight position for year numerals, not like previous issues, that had a curved one:



So, finally, putting it all together, the 50 halala KM#68 exists in 3 distinct subtypes:

a) 1428H(2007): curved year, calligraphy type A for 'khamsun halala' without diacritical marks

b) 1431H(2010): curved year, calligraphy type B for 'khamsun halala' with diacritical marks

c) 1434H(2013) and 1436H (2015): straight year, calligraphy type B for 'khamsun halala' with diacritical marks

New circulating type:

The 50 halala from year AH1431(2010) has a different calligraphy for 'khamsun halala’ (fifty halala) than that from year AH1428(2007) (KM#68 and Schön#53), so it should be cataloged as different type.

Solomon Islands 2008 & 2010 varieties

Let me show here some varieties I found in my collection for Solomon Islands coinage before the recent and new 2012 coin family.

Starting with the 10 cents, we can see that the 2010 (does a 2008 exist also?) type has a different typography than 2005 (KM#27a):



Exactly the same happens with the 20 cents 2008 and 2010. Both have a different typography than 2005 (KM#28):



For the 50 cents, we can see also the different typography in 2008 (I wonder if there is also a 2010 issue). Besides, this denomination has now a magnetic core, it's not CuNi like 2005 (KM#29):



And finally, the 1 dollar coin, once again we find the different typography in 2008 (is there a 2010 issue?). And it too has a magnetic core, so not CuNi like 2005 (KM#72):



Any confirmation about the smallest denominations (1, 2 and 5 cents) for years after 2005 and before 2012 would be great! (my latest Krause just lists 1 cent 2010 and 2 cents 2006)

Updates from Antoine Clerc:
1 cent 2010 also has the narrow lettering of the other 2008 and 2010 denominations.
2 cents 2006 has two interesting mint marks (meaning?). See them both in Antoine's PDF.

Kenya 2010 - 3 new types

New circulating types:



The 5 shillings is magnetic and has a smaller coat of arms. See it here compared to 2009 type (KM#37):



The 10 shillings is magnetic, has a smaller coat of arms and a bigger '10'. See it here compared to 2009 type (KM#35):



The 20 shillings is magnetic and has slightly different numerals and letters styles. See it here compared to 2009 type (KM#36):



Finally, if you're wondering about the 1 shilling, here you can check that 2010 type is not a new type, it is just like before (KM#34):

Seychelles 1 rupee 2010 - New composition

My friend Dr. Wolfgang Schuster sent me this information about the Seychelles 1 rupee 2010. It exists in both versions, CuNi like previous years (KM#50.2), but also another one with magnetic core (new syb-type), probably nickel clad steel:

Seychelles 5 rupees 2010 - New composition

My friend Gijs Vlothuizen just informed that this Seychelles 2010 denomination has a magnetic core, so probably it is nickel clad steel, not copper-nickel as previous years (KM#51.2):

Guatemala 5 & 10 centavos 2009, 2010 & 2011 - Magnetic types

These 2009, 2010 and 2011 items are now magnetic, probably made of steel. Previous years were made of CuNi.

East Caribbean States - 5 cents 2010

New circulating type:

Letters are of different style than in previous years, as clearly seen in "QU" of word "QUEEN", and in the year. The numeral (marked in yellow) is quite different also. Finally, 2010 type is a bit thinner.

All these probably is because of a different mint making the 2010 pieces. Further details and information will be very welcome :-)

Djibouti 500 francs 2010

The 500 francs KM#27 was last minted with year 1999 (mainly for sets, as happened with 1997 issue, although some spare pieces were released for circulation as well). Circulation issues in big quantities were minted only with dates 1989 and 1991. In those 4 issues the mint marks were placed on both sides of "UNITÉ" word. In 2010 issue the mint marks have been moved to both sides of year "2010", as for the other denominations.

Although Krause catalogue number is expected to be the same, for Mint Mark collectors it can be a new attractive issue :-)
