Belarus 2016 - First circulating set

New circulation family finally confirmed for July 2016:

Belarus will have a currency re-denomination next year (1st July), from 10,000 old rouble to one new rouble. These are the designs for the 1, 2 and 5 kopeks:

Saudi Arabia 25 halala 2009, 2012 & 2014 - King Abdullah subtypes

My friend Wolfgang Schuster reports that the 25 halala denomination from King Abdullah, catalogued as KM#71 has two subtypes:

-Year AH1430 (2009) has a curved year
-Years AH1433 (2012) & AH1435 (2014) have straight years

Kyrgyzstan 10 som 2009 - Edge inscriptions

New circulating type:

Kyrgyzstan issued a new 10 som coin with edge inscription '10 SOM ON SOM' instead of being plain. It has the same design as that of 2009, even the year is the same.

Bahrain 2009 different 'fils' calligraphy

New circulating types:

The 2009 (and on) types of Bahrain have the Arabic word "fils" in the rectangular box over the numeric value, written now in a completely different calligraphy (rectangular) than before (cursive). These must then be considered completely new KM types.

Eastern Caribbean States 2009 - New subtypes

From 2002 to 2007, the 10 cents (KM37), 25 cents (KM38) and 1 dollar (KM39) common circulating coins were made of CuNi:



My friend Wolfgang Schuster sent me a 10 cents item from 2009 with a magnetic core, steel I guess. This is clearly a new KM subtype. It is attracted to magnets, while previous years weren't.

Confirmation needed: I've been trying to contact the Central Bank looking for a confirmation regarding the other 2 values, 25 cents and 1 dollar, but until now, I've got no answer. Also, I contacted a couple of sellers in eBay asking for the same details. Again, no answers. Years after 2008 seem quite hard to be found. So, visitors, if you've seen Eastern Caribbean States pieces from 2009 on, please add some comments here.

New data from 23rd june 2011, by Wolfgang: "a friend of mine is just back from Dominica. He was at the Central Bank there: so far ONLY the 10c exists in magnetic composition."

A remarkable monument of Georgian architecture, the church of Saint George in Ilori (Ochamchire region), Abkhazia, was built in 11th century and represents one of the most important praying places for all of Georgia. Walls of the church bear several old Georgian inscriptions performed by Georgian orthodox believers of different generations.

Panama 25 centesimos 2009 - Coloured flag

Some time ago, some sources mentioned this new circulating commemorative in Panama. 2 million Balboas were to be minted in 25 cents coins, with a Panama flag embossed color image superimposed on the "Palace of the Herons", the presidential building.

Updates from january 2013: Juan Carlos Jiménez, a well known expert on Panama coins tells that although the issue of this coin was planned (and even has a coinage law), it seems that has never been struck and he does not believe they will ever be issued, as other coin issues take precedence.

Belgium euros 2010 - New Mint Master Mark

Belgium Mint has a new Mint Master since 2009, Serge Lesens, so circulating coins from 2010 on, have a new Privy Mark, a "quill" (feather user for writing). Previous Romain Coenen's mark was a pair of "scales".

New Caledonia 2009 - New materials

New circulating types:

Denominations from 10 francs to 100 francs changed their composition.

10, 20 and 50 francs were made of Nickel (magnetic) in previous years: KM11, KM12 and KM13.
From 2009 they are made of Copper-Nickel, they're not magnetic anymore.

100 francs (KM15) was made of Nickel-Bronze.
From 2009 it is made of Aluminium-Bronze, it's colour is a bit brighter.
