The Spanish Mint started in 2010 a nice collection of
52 silver proof pieces dedicated to the Spanish provinces' capital cities.
These are
legal tender coins, with a face value of 5 euros but a purchase value of 30.
As I consider them very nice items, and although I won't own them (well, maybe the Bilbao one), I decided to start a series of posts in this blog, to show the coins, coats of arms, and some nice pictures of the places represented.
Coins #1 and #2:
"Almería and Huesca"
Almería belongs to the homonymous
province of Almería, in the autonomous community of
Andalucía. Huesca is the capital city of
Huesca province, in the autonomous community of
Aragón. Here are bigger images of their coats of arms:

In the Almería coin we can see a detail of the
Alcazaba, the city's fortified complex:
