Ukraine 2 hryvnia 2006 - Georgy I. Narbut

New commemorative:

"Georgy Ivanovych Narbut"



The coin is dedicated to 120th anniversary of Georgy I. Narbut, a coryphaeus of the Ukrainian graphic arts. He was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and then its rector. Narbut performed drafts for the Ukrainian banknotes of the UPR, developed patterns of the state symbols.

On the coin obverse a fragment of 1918 banknote's design is depicted: a peasant woman and a worker on the background of a wreath made of flowers and fruits. This is the 1918 100 Hryven banknote:
