New commemorative:

"200 Years of the Benevolent Society"

Established in 1813, the Benevolent Society lays claim to being Australia's first charity organisation. It was established by banker, newspaper editor, and philanthropist Edward Smith Hall, and has served to provide aid to millions of Australians for two centuries. Its significant achievements include pioneering free maternity care, legal aid, campaigning for the abolition of child labour and the introduction of the old age pension.
