Peru 1 nuevo sol 2011 - Chullpas de Sillustani

New circulating type:

This is the fourth coin of the series "Wealth and Pride of Peru"



The Chullpas of Sillustani are the remains of a sanctuary located in Puno. The Chullpas were built by the collas, people native to the Andean regions of Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. The chullpas are tall towers, some more than 12 meters high, inside of which mummies of the colla hierarchs were kept.
