"Hassiba Ben Bouali (1938-1957)

Hassiba Ben Bouali (18 January 1938 – 9 October 1957) was a leader and fighter in the Algerian independence war (1954–62). She was born in El-Asnam (Today, Chlef), Algeria. Her parents moved to Algiers in 1947, where she studied at the Lycée Delacroix (high-school). She joined the Scout Movement, and her travels made her aware of the conditions of the Algerian people under the colonial government. This motivated her to join the Union générale des étudiants musulmans algériens (General Union of Algerian Muslim Students) in 1954, at the age of 16. She participated in the nationalist struggle until her death. In the 1957 Battle of Algiers, she and three companions including Ali Ammar (aka Ali La Pointe) were killed when French forces bombed their hideout in the Casbah.

Eesti Pank put a total of 40,000 coin cards on sale at the start of July at a price of 18 euros, with the sales revenue from them going to support the Ukrainian central bank. The specially dedicated coin was designed by a young Ukrainian refugee studying at the Estonian Academy of arts, Daria Titova, and the coin card was designed by Vladimir Taiger. The two-euro coin with a special design features the words Slava Ukraini and shows a girl as a symbol of tenderness, protecting a bird in her hand.

Ahmet Baitursynuly (c. 5 September 1873 — 8 December 1937) was a Kazakh intellectual who worked in the fields of politics, poetry, linguistics and education.

He reformed the Kazakh alphabet. In 1912, he excluded all the purely Arabic letters not used in the Kazakh language and added letters specific to the Kazakh language. The new alphabet, named Tote jazu (meaning straight writing), is still used by Kazakhs living in China, Afghanistan, and in Iran. Baitursynov also developed the basics of Kazakh and the scientific terminology for the definition of Kazakh grammar. In 1937, he was executed by a firing squad during the Great Purge.
