Libya 1/2 dinar 2014 - New series

The Central Bank of Libya has unveiled plans for a new half-dinar coin.

The design is similar to that of the coin in current circulation and will have silver outer edge with a golden centre. The new coin will feature a monument from the historic Roman city of Guirza, instead of the current design of a rider on a horse. It will also bear the name of the CBL in English and feature a security tag revealing a star and crescent moon when the coin tilted.

Apparently, they are now minted by the Royal Mint at Llantrisant, Wales.
