Canada 2 dollars 2006

New circulating bimetallic:

The Royal Canadian Mint will issue a circulating bimetallic 2 dollar coin to celebrate 10th anniversary of 2 dollar coins, twoonies. In 1996 production of 2 dollar bills was stopped and 2 dollar coins were introduced.

Ukraine 2 hryvnia 2006 - Georgy I. Narbut

New commemorative:

"Georgy Ivanovych Narbut"

The coin is dedicated to 120th anniversary of Georgy I. Narbut, a coryphaeus of the Ukrainian graphic arts. He was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and then its rector. Narbut performed drafts for the Ukrainian banknotes of the UPR, developed patterns of the state symbols.

On the coin obverse a fragment of 1918 banknote's design is depicted: a peasant woman and a worker on the background of a wreath made of flowers and fruits. This is the 1918 100 Hryven banknote:

Ukraine 2 hryvnia 2006 - Oleg Antonov

The coin is dedicated to 100th anniversary of Oleg Konstantinovich Antonov, an aircraft designer, under whose management transport, training and sport aircrafts and gliders were developed. Oleh Antonov had always strived for his aircrafts, including such giants as Antei and Ruslan were all-purpose and beautiful and could transport cargo and passengers for a long distance. Now engineers and technicians of the Aircraft Scientific and Technical Complex named after Antonov keep on developing business of the talented aircraft designer.

The coin is dedicated to 130th anniversary of the birth of Mykola Strazhesko, a medical scientist, who was the founder of the National cardiology and one of the initiators of the present Institute for the Cardiology of the Ukrainian Academy of Science, which is mostly engaged in clinicodiagnostic and experimental researches. The haematology atlas and manual are the valuable contribution of the scientist and his colleagues to the treatment of haematogenic organs.

Leiden is a city and municipality in South Holland, The Netherlands.
For the celebration of the 400th anniversary of Rembrandts' birth, the city of Leiden, where the famous painter was born, has it's own local currency in 2006, called the Rembrandt.
This coin is only local currency with face values of 2, 1 and 1/2 Rembrandt, equivalent to 2 euro, 1 euro and 0,50 euro. The coin circulates in five different issues.

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was a Serbian inventor, physicist, mechanical engineer and electrical engineer, regarded as one of the most important inventors in history. He is also well known for his contributions to the discipline of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th century. His patents and theoretical work form the basis of modern AC electric power systems, including the polyphase power distribution systems and the AC motor, with which he helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution.

The words BUDDHA JAYANTHI appear within upper part annulus in Sinhala at apex and Tamil and English to left and right. 2550 appear within annulus at bottom.
